Young Enterpenuer Struggles With Anxiety To Keep New Years Revolutions Hope Alive

Young Enterpenuer Struggles With Anxiety To Keep New Years Revolutions Hope Alive

(PRWEB) January 25, 2005

“My hope is to succeed, so I can make sure no one grows up the way I did,” says Scott Buendia, president of Unbeatable People Incorporated. In his short 26 year old life, Scott has been: ridiculed by family, friends, discharged from the Navy due to anxiety, failed culinary school more than once, and told by a friend, “if anyone went through what you did, they’d be dead already.” Yet, he has never quit, and he has never given up hope. In his short life he has also: been certified to teach Jeet Kune Do and the hand to hand combat course taught to the Navy SEALs by Paul Vunak (Rapid Assault Tactics), become a certified personal trainer and lifestyle and weight management consultant, a culinary student, in addition to planning to becoming certified in image consulting, graphology, and other distinctions.

“The secret to living, I think, is to never stop moving,” says Scott.

When asked how he keeps managing to get back up even though being thrown rough cards, he had this to say, “I think the secret to getting back up is spite, letting everything come at you and still getting up. Maybe you’ll never win, but you never stop trying. I think some of my favorite heroes and people in books are the people who knew that the situation was hopeless, but pressed on for the people who could make it. For them, it wasn’t the result that matter, it was action, and in action, there lies the heroics.”

Scott Buendia expects 2005 to be a better year for him, “I have a meeting with some big personal training companies, also a feature in Wizard Magazine on a book I wrote, it just shows that if you just keep pluggin, you’ll get results.”

In closing, Scott Buendia had these tips for those who wish to keep their New Years Resolutions:

1. Remember, your reason for doing something doesn’t need to be good or worthy, it just has to be something you feel good working towards. It could be anger, it could be sorrow, but it must motivate you.

2. Fire up your mental skills. Learn stress management, learn NLP (a skill which he uses frequently)

3. Use visualization. Depending if you are a optimist or a pessimist, you should use it to your advantage. A big misconception is that visualization should always be postive. You should always use it as a tool. Use it to motivate you if you feel motivated by the image of you being fat. Don’t let “experts” tell you how to do something, you know yourself best.

NESCA Announces New Clinical Staff Appointments – Three Will Join Newton, MA Pediatric Neuropsychology Practice in September, 2011

Newton, MA (PRWEB) March 20, 2011

NESCA (Neuropsychology & Education Services for Children & Adolescents) Founder and Director Dr. Ann Helmus today announced that in September, 2011, licensed pediatric neuropsychologist Erin Gibbons, Ph.D. will be joining the clinical staff of her Newton, MA private practice, along with Post-Doctoral Fellows Katherine (Kate) DellaPorta, Psy.D. and Angela Burke Currie, Ph.D. By virtue of their specialized training, these new staff members will significantly increase NESCA’s expertise in working with various populations, including very young children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Helmus remarked that, “We are extremely happy that these skilled professionals will be joining our practice, both because we are always trying to broaden our skills base, but also because we are all too well aware that long waiting lists are disheartening to families, and delayed services may adversely affect their children. While we are very grateful to be as busy as we are, we would like to expand our group’s scope and accessibility.”

Erin Rachel Gibbons, Ph.D.

Dr. Erin Gibbons holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Suffolk University in Boston. An honors graduate in psychology of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Gibbons is completing her post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology in the Developmental Medicine Center of Children’s Hospital Boston, where she is a member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists evaluating children with autism spectrum disorders, Down Syndrome and other genetic disorders, ADHD and learning and intellectual disabilities.

Dr. Gibbons is also a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) fellow, a highly prestigious, federally-funded position administered by the nationwide Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD). Her work entails providing advocacy for, and improving the health of individuals with disabilities and special health care needs.

Her previous experience includes an internship at the Aurora Mental Health Center in Aurora, Colorado, where she was trained to teach social skills groups for children and adolescents, to provide therapeutic services to individuals with dual diagnoses of developmental disability and mental illness, to conduct Dialectical Behavioral group therapy around anger management issues and to perform cognitive and neuropsychological testing of adults. She also worked at The Home for Little Wanderers in Roslindale, MA, the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA (where clients included inpatients with chronic and severe mental illness, for whom she conducted mandated forensic reviews), the Dean College Children’s Center in Franklin, MA and The May Institute in Chatham, MA, as an ABA therapist.

Angela M. Burke Currie, M.A.

Joining us in September, 2011 as a post-doctoral fellow will be Angela Burke Curry, who is completing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Boston’s Suffolk University while interning at The May Institute in Randolph, MA. There, she provides outpatient assessment, intervention and individual therapeutic services to a diverse population suffering from various difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, trauma, substance abuse, personality disorders and psychosis.

Angela is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, where she won numerous other academic honors and awards. Her background also includes employment as director of a therapeutic summer camp for children with special needs aged 5 – 16, service to Special Advocates of New Hampshire as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem on behalf of abused and/or neglected children, and two years as an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University, where she taught undergraduate courses in general psychology and child development.

Katherine DellaPorta, M.S.

Katherine (Kate) DellaPorta, M.S. is a 2003 honors graduate of Boston College in psychology. She is now completing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree at Loyola College in Maryland. Ms. DellaPorta is currently employed as a pre-doctoral intern by Comprehensive Outpatient Services, Inc. of Newton, MA, where she provides outpatient individual, family and couples therapy to children, adolescents and adults.

Kate’s recent professional experience includes a psychology externship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where she conducted psycho-diagnostic assessments of the cognitive, academic, behavioral and emotional functioning of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, mental retardation, mood disorders and behavioral difficulties. She also provided cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Previously, she had been a neuropsychology extern at The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders of Children’s National Medical Center near Washington, D.C., where she performed full-scale diagnostic evaluations of children aged 5 -21 suspected of having autism spectrum disorders.

0 to 5000 in a Record Breaking 109 Days

0 to 5000 in a Record Breaking 109 Days

(PRWEB) July 26, 2006

Some sites dream of worthy accomplishments, while others stay awake and do them. A milestone passed, new things begun, dreams as radiant as the sun, a goal achieved, a landmark attained. That’s 5000 members. Like a souped-up turbo charged vehicle, CWD has accelerated at a mind boggling speed. It really is a phenomenal achievement to witness a site that has grown like wildfire and boasts members from almost all the continents on this planet. 5000 members within a span of just over 100 days is not just breathtaking – it is an exceptional achievement that should not only make the founders of CWD proud but all of its members and well-wishers notwithstanding the sincerity and hard work of its officers in promoting its cause of fostering healthy debates.

Success, they say, is simple. Do what’s right, the right way, at the right time. However, success brings with it its own course of expected obstacles. If the path to the present state had no obstacles, it wouldn’t have led anywhere. When CricketWatchdogs (CWD) was launched as IhateGanguly.com in October 2005, our short-term mission was centred around Ganguly and his continued presence in the team despite the appalling form he has demonstrated since 2003.

With its short-term mission largely fulfilled, IhateGanguly.com spiritedly said goodbye to puberty and reinvented itself as CricketWatchdogs.com in tune with its long-term mission to become Watchdogs of Cricket by fostering healthy cricket debates amongst the cricketing fraternity. Since inception, our mission has not been to hound Ganguly, but to address the quagmire of favouritism, zonal politics and selectors’ incompetence and dilly-dallying that is reminiscent of Indian cricket.

CWD is now the quintessential website allowing members from all walks of life to express themselves whilst engaging in healthy debates with others. There never is a dull moment on CWD. Anger management, psychiatry, medical diagnosis, patriotism, religion, gossip-mongers, braggadocio, sciolism, rabble-rousers, sycophancy, nitpicking, egotistical, hifalutin – all jostling for expertise galore on CWD. Of course, there is the small matter of a sport that celebrates the battle between willow and the red cherries. With over 30,000 cricket related posts/articles, cricket is definitely the fulcrum that CWD revolves on. It breathes it, feels it and lives it. Let the momentum continue and let cricket find its ally in CWD.

Congrats to the founders and thanks to the thousands of members who have made CWD a roaring success. 10,000 here we come.

The Best of Golf Fitness: New Book Combines Physical, Mental and Technical Aspects of Golf

The Best of Golf Fitness: New Book Combines Physical, Mental and Technical Aspects of Golf

(PRWEB) March 17, 2005

For the millions of Americans trying to improve their golf game, having access to the same exercise programs of the top tour players like Annika Sorenstam or Karen Stupples may seem like the opportunity of a lifetime – which is exactly what the authors of the new e-book, “The Fitness Secrets of Championship Golfers” had in mind.

The book is the brainchild of Fitness for Golf, a member’s only, online golf fitness web site dedicated to the improvement of golfers worldwide. Fitness for Golf Founder Susan Hill, a golf fitness trainer and sports performance nutrition specialist, said that she was frustrated with the lack of accurate information for golfers and wanted to create a resource that would give them the guidance they need to improve on the physical, mental and technical aspects of the game.

“Normally golfers would have to invest in many books which focus on one person’s expertise,” Hill said. “There just wasn’t a book that brought all the pieces together – until now.”

According to Hill, the book is more than 200 pages of golf fitness training programs, mental coaching techniques, golf swing drills and day-to-day action plans from seven of the nation’s top golf experts, such as Personal Trainer and Sports Nutritionist Kai Fusser who is currently the trainer to some of the world’s premier athletes, including Annika Sorenstam.

“We knew if we were going to do it, we had to do it right,” Hill said. “The experts that we have assembled are truly the best in golf, traveling on the PGA and LPGA tours.”

Another of the book’s contributors is Jeff Troesch, an internationally recognized expert in the field of mental skills training and performance enhancement, who offers information on effective course management strategies.

“It’s not true that you are either born with it or you are not,” Troesch said. “The book is designed to help golfers of all levels and ages with the mental part of the game including dealing with anger, frustration, competitive anxiety, fears and lack of confidence. The best players in the world are using this type of training and, if it can help them improve, it can help golfers of any playing level.”

To order a copy of “The Fitness Secrets of Championship Golfers” or for more information, visit http://www.golffitnessexperts.com. The book is being offered for a one-time fee of $ 47 and is available as an electronic download that can be viewed with Adobe Reader.

Contributors to “The Fitness Secrets of Championship Golfers” include the following golf experts:

• Kai Fusser, a nationally recognized personal trainer and sports nutritionist, is currently the fitness trainer to some of the world’s top performing athletes including Annika Sorenstam.

• Jeff Troesch is an internationally recognized expert in the field of mental skills training and performance enhancement having served as the Director of Mental Training for David Leadbetters Golf Academies.

• Susan Hill, founder of http://www.fitnessforgolf.com and contributing author to Golf Illustrated has certifications as a sports performance nutritionist and CHEK golf biomechanic.
